Dear Bethesda,

HEY, WE MOVED!

You can find my breakdown of the Oblivion E3 footage here at the new site.

  1. Yes, this angered me immensely as I watched this video after I actually played the game. Hopefully they won't do it again, but I hear the only reason they removed shadows was because of the consoles' hardware limitations - and since nothing of that has changed, I fear the worst.

  2. Well, what the fuck does it matter if the consoles were limited? You can turn off shadows for the console version.

That honestly doesn't make any sense. There is no reason for shadows to not be implemented in the PC version of Oblivion.

  3. Yeah, well, you'd have to ask Todd about that. It's also only what I've heard, and it might not be true - I don't even remember the source anymore.

But anyway, since most developers focus on the consoles more than they do on PCs(look at Crytek and their latest abomination as an example), maybe they didn't want this audience to complain? You know how bitchy console kids can be.

  4. Well, from what i heard Radiant AI worked - but too well. No goods on merchants, important NPCs dying because they angered other NPCs, there were mass town killers (person that likes to go shooting in the forest - after a few weeks runs out of money for arrows, decides to steal them, gets cought, kills shopkeeper, kills the guard because of all the training he got, begins to travel while every town guard in the world is hostile to him). Those events were low probability ones - but when we are allowed to play for hundreds of days they will happen.
Hopefully they will implement it now though - after fixing everything.

And how is the progress going on getting permissions for morrowind modding? Single install file would be a great help ;)

  5. If RadiantAI was ever at the point they claim it was in this video, the possibilities for AI scripting in the TES Construction Set would be much more sophisticated than what we have.

  6. Oh, and I haven't had time to hunt down emails for modders, been busy with RL stuff.

I've been charged with 'conspiracy' and have to attend weekly seminars to get the charges dropped, for example.

  7. What? Charged for conspiracy? Did you try to kill the president?

  8. You're also forgetting there were several other cities removed from the game, namely Sutch.
Apparently there was a system crash and they lost most of the original game's content.
And yes, they were too stupid to have backups.

  9. This conspiracy lark sounds like a load of bullshit to me, anyway back on topic. You are so right, how crazy and sophisticated is the AI there!? The shadows and just everything is awesome.

Just talking to beggars I find the voice changes are most retarded, first they are old and poor, next thing I ask, they are young and their voice changed, full of energy and life. WTF

  10. @ Anonymous: It's not a load of bullshit.

  12. I just hope I feel with Skyrim the same thing I felt when I started playing Morrowind.

  13. Sorry to post this here, but ED is dead. Better lockpicks in Step 6 of Modding Morrowind is dead. Please update.
